With the area's hills and valleys, you can always go on an exciting bike ride - whether you're into country roads, trails or mountain biking through the forests, we have it all nearby. It's also possible to take your bike on the boats and on the train, so you can cycle back to the site from Himmelbjerget, Silkeborg or elsewhere.

Hilly terrain, fields and forests
Laven is Denmark's only mountain town, so it almost goes without saying that it is a fantastic area to hike in. By the lake there is the opportunity to go for a long, beautiful walk around Bomholtvig to the other side of the lake. From there you can see the beautiful village of Laven, and how the campsite blends into the terrain. The area is perfect for walking/hiking - it is almost stress-relieving.

Himmelbjerget
Take a trip to Himmelbjerget and experience the unparalleled view of the lake and land. Himmelbjerget is 147 meters high and although it is not Mount Everest, it requires a bit of climbing. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy a cozy day in one of Denmark's most beautiful areas.
Canoe, kayak or dinghy
Take a day on the water with your own equipment or rent a canoe at Terrassen Camping. Alternatively, you can also rent canoes in Ry or Silkeborg. It is a fantastic experience to sail around and explore the lakes - while you get a completely unique view of the area from the water.

Hjejlen
Experience a historic trip on the Silkeborg Lakes with the Hjejlen. The Hjejlen is a paddle steamer from 1861, making it one of the oldest steamships in operation.
Randers Rainforest
Randers Rainforest is a tropical zoo where you can experience the animals up close. Take a trip to Africa, South America, Asia – or perhaps the Snake Temple. The day is filled with educational experiences and exciting animals.

Terrassen Camping is a 4-star campsite with 250 units plus cabins, mobile homes and rental caravans. Most of these are located staggered on terraces, so that the magnificent view of the Silkeborg lakes can be enjoyed unobstructed. Terrassen Camping is Denmark's second highest campsite with a direct view of Himmelbjerget.
Terrassen Camping is located in the middle of the Danish Lake District - and is your ideal holiday base when you are going to enjoy your camping holiday at Silkeborg. Just below Terrassen Camping there is a direct train link to Silkeborg and in just 11 min. Are you in Silkeborg center. In addition to train connections, you will also find tourist boats that can take you to Silkeborg, Ry or to the sky mountain.
Get the amazing scenery at the Silkeborg Lakes mixed by direct train link to Aarhus city center. Terrassen Camping has a train connection right below the site , and in just 38 min. you are in Aarhus. Camping near Aarhus does not have to be in the middle of town - at Terrassen Camping you get it all. Peace, tranquility, magnificent views and easy transport to Aarhus.
Camping 5 km from Ry gives you the opportunity to experience a cozy town with music, food and a good atmosphere. In Ry you will find many small specialty shops and a few grocery stores. Ry offers exciting events and activities throughout the season. The town is beautifully situated between the lakes Gudensø, Birksø, Vessø, Lillesø, Rye Mølle Sø and Knudsø along the Gudenå River – and only a short train ride from Terrassen Camping.
